Project Reveal: Modern Boys Bathroom

We're thrilled to reveal a space from our Elbow Park Modern project featured in the May issue of Western Living Magazine!

This issue celebrates 11 stylish bathrooms and we're thrilled to have one of our recently completed projects included in the mix. 

Jacqueline Reid, our intermediate designer shares insight into the approach towards design and detail in this modern boys bathroom. 

As this bathroom doubled as a powder room to the adjacent media room as well as a bathroom for the clients two grown son’s, we wanted to ensure the space was functional and fun.

To add interest and impact we brought the geometric backsplash full height and combined it with matte black finishes and warm white oak millwork. We played with scale while layering textures and shapes. The oversized rectangular sinks, simple round mirrors and exposed bulb sconces result in a modern, youthful and masculine space. A small pop of colour comes from a framed bear linen print to add some fun to this fantastic bathroom. We’re all about the bear necessities!

With a separate shower room and water closet the space is perfectly allocated for privacy, a necessity for a bathroom with dual purposes. At planning stage, DeJong Design Associates laid out the bathroom to accommodate two people comfortably based on how the space would be used. From there, our team designed millwork and selected all finishes, plumbing and lighting to bring the space to life based on our clients design aesthetic.  The whole home has a very cohesive feel from one room to the next all the while maintaining a sense of individuality within each space.
