We’ve Got the Winter Blues! In a Good Way.
Is February not THE longest, shortest month of the year? I wonder if it has a complex because rarely do I hear anyone say, “I can’t wait for February to arrive!” It’s such a “meh” kind of month isn’t it?
There’s often talk about the winter blues during these early months of the year, and this post is here to give that notion a positive spin! Instead of associating blue with sadness, let’s reframe it with words like calm, refreshing, strong, reliable, and peace.
There’s also a connection to water with the colour blue. Living in a land locked city, such as Calgary, I do love the idea of bringing in the colours of oceans and lakes into our designs.
At Nyla Free Designs, we love incorporating this classic, never go out of style, colour in our interiors. Whether with paint, millwork or upholstery, there’s a breadth of opportunity to infuse a neutral colour, such as blue, into many areas of your home.
UPHOLSTERY
Arguably a neutral, navy is a fan favourite on the colour wheel when it comes to fabric selections. We have completed a number of projects with dark blue upholstery as the stand out piece of the room and below are a few examples.
MILLWORK
While coloured millwork is more of a long term commitment, you can still embrace this colour with confidence. Spanning from light, medium to dark hues, we’ve incorporated blues in kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms alike.
PAINT
Like a great pair of denim jeans, blue is a classic, go with everything paint colour. Whether you’re looking to add a fresh coat to your walls or millwork, we certainly have our favourites. Here are our tried and trues:
Looking to add impact to your space with confidence? Blue should be your go-to! You can hardly go wrong. So as we forge through the rest of winter, and often dreary days, I say we rename the month Fe-BLUE-ary!
