Behind the Scenes: Christmas Tree Decorating

At Nyla Free Designs, Christmas decorating starts at the end of November. We have been invited into clients homes during this special time of year for over a decade. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Our Mount Royal clients have settled into their new home and we were thrilled help bring Christmas to life for them.

With a blank canvas of this stunning, 18’ live tree, we could not wait to decorate it with sophisticated selection of ornaments, true to the style and colour scheme of the room.

With Christmas decor hitting the shelves before Halloween is even over, we had ornaments pre-selected and a good idea of the overall look and feel we were after for the tree. (all ornaments are from the Canadian Tire Canvas collection)

We arrived to a 6’ ladder and knew that wouldn’t be high enough to place ornaments at the top. We enlisted the help of the builder who brought in a massive 12 footer! While this did help, we had to get extra creative with an invention to hang ornaments in high up and tricky to reach places.

We attached the hook portion of a hanger onto a pole in order to hook the ornaments and attach them to the tree. Genius! We were pretty proud of our creation as it made a huge difference in placing ornaments exactly where we wanted them without risking our lives dangling from the ladder.

The completed tree is full of festive ornaments that speak to the design of the room. The airiness of the tree was perfect for the gold and copper magnolia garland to drape from branch to branch and the chunky knit tree skirt is ready to hold beautifully wrapped gifts.
