Before & After Master Closet
Who’s ready for a transformation story?
It starts with a closet of wall to wall mirrored sliding doors. Why does anyone need this much mirror in a room that isn’t a home gym??
The “before” is similar to the photo shown below. Full disclosure, this is not the exact space, however a very good representation of what was existing.
BEFORE
Behind the sliding doors lived the typical rod with shelf above. Not only was function at the helm of the decision to update the closet, but also aesthetic. With this being a major area and arguably focal point in the room, we had the opportunity to create a wow factor wall, organized and outfitted to suit our clients needs.
The new closet had five sections, four double doors and a centre area for drawers and a TV above. Each section was carefully considered based on our clients storage needs and wants.
The interior of the closet is wood, the exterior is painted MDF. Above shows the face of the closet getting ready for paint.
As this home is an older home, we had elements such as the bulkhead detail that couldn’t be removed or relocated. No problem! We embraced and incorporated it into design decisions for the closet, most specifically adding wallpaper.
The closet now feels like an intentional part of the room, specifically designed for our clients.
Other areas to highlight:
Grasscloth was applied within the panelling of the closet doors to add contrast, interest and texture.
The flushmount light fixtures received an update.
We added wallpaper to the entire room, a lovely decorative detail that really brought the space together.
We combined two styles of hardware, creating an unexpected mix of modern and traditional.
We included a full length mirror on the wall to the left of the closet, just enough to check your outfit on the way out.
What was once a wall full of mirror, and lack of intentional design, is now a thoughtful master closet. The result is truly a transformation!
AFTER
Much like our clients, this master closet is beautiful inside and out. We couldn’t be happier with the result and storybook ending, where function and aesthetic, live happily ever after.
